Nearly 70 Years of Commitment to the Energy Industry

The company is headquartered in Brno and operates specialist workplaces and laboratories across multiple locations in the Czech Republic, primarily in regions long associated with large-scale energy production. Firmly established in the industry since 1957, ORGREZ Group has been supporting the country’s largest energy operators – as well as those in Slovakia and other Central European countries – with its expertise and specialised services.

Meeting Our Customers’ Energy Needs

The companies of the ORGREZ Group have a long-standing history of promoting sustainable energy development and implementing the best available technologies in practice. They actively contribute to the modernisation and increased sustainability of the energy sector, leveraging their expertise and data analytics to integrate both conventional and sustainable energy sources, equipment, and technologies, delivering the most efficient solutions to customers’ energy needs. In doing so, they also work to maintain their market share and competitiveness.

Leading the Environmental Transformation of the Energy Sector

The ORGREZ Group’s strategy is to coordinate modern, sustainable energy projects and focus on developing new technologies for clean and environmentally friendly energy production. The group operates a wide range of certified laboratories and has long played a key role in reporting, analysis, and strategy development for reducing emissions and mitigating the environmental
impact of energy industry activities. It also maintains a long-term focus on the latest trends in achieving and monitoring sustainability, with particular emphasis on the first pillar of the ESG framework.

Building Long-Term Partnerships

ORGREZ can be your reliable long-term partner for smarter energy management. We provide tailored solutions and guide you seamlessly from your current energy consumption and production toward the most efficient, economical, and environmentally responsible operation of power and thermal energy systems.

The Group's values of expertise, experience, quality and innovation are the basis not only for long-term partnerships with our customers, but also for the future of the Group.

Our History

At the beginning of our journey was a vision to rationalize the operation of energy facilities in Czechoslovakia. This vision began to take shape in the 1950s with the creation of an organization whose name clearly reflected its purpose as a national enterprise: the Organization for the Rationalization of Energy Plants (ORGREZ, based on its Czech abbreviation).

A FOUNDATION BUILT ON EXPERTISE: THE THERMAL-TECHNICAL LABORATORY

The foundation of what would later become ORGREZ was the establishment of a thermal-technical laboratory within the Energy Research Institute in 1952. This laboratory provided services to energy companies, supporting their modernisation and operational optimisation. Its primary tasks included conducting measurements and testing thermal power plant equipment as it was being commissioned.

ORGREZ IS BORN

In October 1956, a major restructuring took place in the management of the Czechoslovak energy industry. The six existing regional energy production and distribution headquarters, known as Energotrusts, located in Prague, Most, Hradec Králové, Brno, Ostrava, and Bratislava were abolished. They were replaced by three power plant administrations in Prague, Ostrava, and Bratislava, which came under the direct oversight of the newly established Ministry of Energy. By decision of this ministry, the ORGREZ enterprise was officially founded on 1 January 1957.

ADDRESSING THE CHALLENGES OF ENERGY SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

ORGREZ was founded with a clear purpose: to tackle the technical challenges of the Czechoslovak energy system and provide specialised services to power plants, distribution companies, and heating plants. These services focused on streamlining and modernising their operations, as well as supporting the commissioning of new power generation and distribution facilities. Beyond this, ORGREZ played a key role in the nationwide coordination of energy system development, ensuring consistent technical progress across the sector.

ENSURING OPERATIONAL STABILITY AND BOOSTING PERFORMANCE

The company’s growth progressed in tandem with the expansion of the national energy system. Over time, its primary focus shifted to enhancing power plant performance and addressing the challenges of irregular coal supplies and low fuel quality – issues that consistently troubled the industry at the time. ORGREZ also played a crucial role in stabilising operations at older power plants, commissioning new facilities, and advancing automation and control systems for the national grid. Other key activities included transformer testing, temperature monitoring in power plants, testing temperature sensors in operation, and the development of automated coal sampling technology. By the 1960s, ORGREZ had further expanded its expertise to include noise measurement and reduction.

ORGREZ BECOMES PART OF ČEZ

As part of structural changes in the country’s energy sector, ORGREZ became part of the newly established Československé energetické závody, Prague (ČEZ) in 1965. ORGREZ took over the coordination and management of the technical development of power plants and grids, the economics of their construction, standardisation processes, the administration of technical and economic standards, and the development of computer programs for managing Czechoslovakia’s first nuclear power plant in Jaslovské Bohunice. The majority of ORGREZ’s work was carried out to support the needs of ČEZ.

A PIONEER IN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

ORGREZ played a crucial role in environmental protection within the energy sector. It was a pioneer in Czechoslovakia, not only in measuring air pollutant emissions from individual power plants but also in establishing a comprehensive air quality monitoring system.

PRIVATISATION AND TRANSFORMATION

In 1993, ORGREZ was privatised through a public tender won by Orging, s.r.o., whose owners included both senior ORGREZ managers and other entrepreneurs. This was followed by a transformation of the company, driven in part by a decline in orders from the state energy monopoly. During the 1990s, ORGREZ was primarily engaged in air quality protection, a service in high demand as part of the large-scale desulphurisation of thermal power plants. ORGREZ also began developing a new air quality database, integrating computer technology into the operation of measuring instruments, and expanding automated emission monitoring for energy production facilities, along with enhancing the control of separators.

NEW OWNERS

In 2011, the existing owners decided to sell ORGREZ, and the company became a subsidiary of Business Technology Corporation, a.s. In 2018, Business Technology Corporation, a.s. was acquired by private investor and experienced energy expert Vladimír Hlavinka, leading to the establishment of ORGREZ Group, a.s. as a holding company. Today, the group includes ORGREZ, a.s., EVECO Brno, s.r.o., ORGREZ ECO s.r.o., ORGREZ TRADE s.r.o., and VJHS s.r.o.

Although new trends and challenges continue to emerge, ORGREZ remains dedicated to its mission of supporting the transformation and modernisation of the energy sector.
